And, villains all around the city are grouping together and ganging up to take his life. The woman that he loves is going to marry another man. Instead of an almighty, powerful, and threatening Venom… we get somebody very vulnerable and probably at the lowest point of his life. And that is exactly the case in this Venom series. It always makes for a good story when the hunter becomes the hunted. ![]() ![]() I came across this audiobook while searching for Joel Froomkin narrations, and I went into it without any expectations, being my first Highlander romance. ![]() The physical tension between the two simmers throughout this book, and they are explosive together, often making me catch my breath. ![]() The chemistry and emotional connection between Aulay and Jetta was palpable, investing the reader in this uncommon relationship. The humor in this book was a pleasant surprise and made me love this family even more. I sighed and swooned, I blushed and laughed out loud. I experienced a full spectrum of emotions while listening to this book. ![]() While my initial reaction to him was a little lukewarm, he quickly won me over and stole my heart. Aulay was a perfect hero for me, a protective male who also isn’t afraid to be vulnerable. The Highlander’s Promise was an entertaining and lighthearted read, one that held me captive from the very start, and one that continues to have a hold on me even after finishing Aulay and Jetta’s story.
